The presence of the Willa Decius Institute for Culture at the 2026 Leipzig Book Fair marked an important sign of the growing international recognition of Polish literature and Polish translation initiatives. At one of Europe’s most significant literary events, we presented Radar magazine and took part in the announcement of the shortlist for the Karl Dedecius Prize — an award that has for years played a real role in strengthening the presence of Polish and German-language literature in translation.

During the Leipzig Book Fair, on March 20, the nominations for this year’s edition of the award for translators working between Polish and German were announced at the local branch of the Polish Institute.
Beyond Borders at Villa Decius – another international residency project in Kraków

Villa Decius once again becomes a space for international artistic collaboration. From 18 to 23 May 2026, Kraków will host a residency as part of the Beyond Borders project—an interdisciplinary initiative combining physical theatre, choreography, voice work, and contemporary performance practices. The programme is organised by Instabili Vaganti and the Italian Institute of Culture in Kraków, in cooperation with the Villa Decius Institute for Culture.

“Crossroads of Cultures”: Krakow and Ivano-Frankivsk - sum up

The International Residency “Crossroads of Cultures,” held from 16 January to 8 February 2026, brought together artists, writers= and researchers from Ukraine and Poland in a joint exploration of the intertwined histories of Kraków and Ivano-Frankivsk (formerly Stanisławów). The programme was implemented as part of the “Tekstura” reading promotion initiative of Teple Misto, with the support of the European Union through the House of Europe programme, in cooperation with the Villa Decius Institute of Culture and the Centre for Polish Culture and European Dialogue.
Civic Budget of the City of Kraków – 13th edition
